Circus and Kunst: Louis Vuitton New Year Party

The design concept for Louis Vuitton New Year Party at GUM (State Department Store) was very clear from the start. The focus had to be on LV’s collaboration with Jeff Koons, which always produces a powerful result. And, of course, we were excited to make our own contribution, so in a sense, we were now a part of this collaboration. We couldn’t forget about his iconic inflatable figures, as well as his passion for metallized surfaces, so the LV apartment at GUM was filled with foiled balloons. We found a stylish clawfoot bathtub and filled it with rubber ducks – gold-plated, of course! – turning it into a neo-pop style Duck Pond game. We brought in clowns, magicians and even a trained a Jack Russell terrier, creating a peculiar mixture of a fun-fair, a circus and contemporary art.
