The opening of Russia’s first Wamiles Beauty Academy and Marina Vaskanyan’s boutique was held at the Fashion Season shopping arcade. Our task was to transform the space so as to reflect the spirit of Wamiles brand, being a combination of Japanese minimalism and European luxury. We built the space design around three things: origami, butterflies and orchids, and used the three colors of the brand, namely, black, white and red. We folded four thousand paper butterflies, which hovered in rows and divided the gallery space into zones like screens. Some remained floating just below the ceiling. We transformed the hallways using white walls with a horizontal strip of green steelgrass and orchids whose shapes resembled butterflies.
For the grand opening, we turned the boutique entrance into a giant Wamiles box tied with a huge ribbon, so guests would enter the boutique through the open sides of the box. They enjoyed taking pictures next to the fragrant orchid wall and listening to music by the Fruits band. The evening was hosted by Yana Churikova.
